Venturi-type SNG (LPG + air) mixer

Synthetic Natural Gas (SNG) is produced by mixing air (AIR) with liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), resulting in a gas with a calorific value equivalent to methane (natural gas). The SNG mixture can be burned in burners as a direct alternative to natural gas, without the need for reconfiguring or replacing the burners.

The Venturi SNG Blender (or LPG-Air Mixer) is a system in which LPG and air are mixed at low pressure (up to 450 mbar) in appropriate proportions, creating synthetic natural gas (SNG) at the system’s output with properties similar to natural gas. The system minimizes manual control and operates at low pressure with a system capacity of up to 350 Nm³/hour.

I-Maximum, in collaboration with partners, designs mobile Venturi-type synthetic natural gas (SNG) mixing installations in containers as well as stationary installations in open areas. Each system is tailored to meet specific customer needs, ensuring maximum efficiency and reliability.

The Venturi-type mixer operates on the principle of pressure reduction caused by the flow of the working medium through a narrowed section of the pipe. When the gaseous phase of propane enters the mixer and flows through the first-stage nozzle, the kinetic energy of the gas stream increases, causing a pressure drop and drawing in atmospheric air through an air filter and check valve. The amount of air drawn in, necessary to achieve a mixture with desired properties, mixes with the gaseous phase of the liquefied gas in the mixing pipe and is then transported through a pipeline to the end user. The operation of the mixer is controlled by a programmable logic controller (PLC).
