PROLIMIX® Biomethane Enrichment Mixer
I-Maximum is the exclusive representative of the German company Scharr Tec in Poland for Biomethane Enrichment Systems and gas mixers.
The PROLIMIX® system from SCHARR TEC enhances biomethane by increasing its heating value through the addition of propane (LPG).
The PROLIMIX® mixer allows for the injection of liquid propane into the biomethane. The energy needed for propane evaporation being drawn directly from the biomethane.
In the nozzle head, propane is dispersed through numerous nozzles, creating an aerosol that evaporates by absorbing heat from the biomethane. At this stage, effective mixing of propane with biomethane already occurs. In the subsequent stage, the gas mixture is further blended in the mixer through precise directing and turbulence.
The control system in the PROLIMIX® system enables precise adjustment of the heating value of biogas to a specified level. This process involves the precise injection of a measured amount of atomized propane into the biomethane.
The PROLIMIX® enrichment system operates fully automatically. The control system maintains the desired heating value of the enriched mixture: LPG + Biomethane.
Additionally, we offer installations that can mix up to four gases simultaneously (e.g., Biogas, NG, hydrogen, natural gas, LPG, CO₂), allowing for the maintenance of both the energy value (heating value) of the gas fuel and the percentage content of each gas in the gas mixture at a specified level.

Main benefits of the PROLIMIX® biomethane enrichment mixer
Advanced safety features and modern mixing technology: nozzle head with propane flow measurement and control valve.
A condensate separator with a liquid detector at the mixer outlet ensures that liquid propane does not enter the downstream piping system in the event of over-injection (e.g., due to a measurement system failure).
Pressure and temperature are continuously monitored; if either exceeds or fails to reach preset limits, propane injection is automatically shut off.
The PROLIMIX® system is standardly available for biomethane flow rates of 350, 700, and 1200 Nm³/h. Custom designs are also available to accommodate various pressure and flow rate requirements.
Models are also available in the following pressure ranges:
1. Low pressure (up to 1 bar),
2. Medium pressure (up to 16 bar),
3. High pressure (up to 35 bar).
Biogas plants are planning to produce biomethane with the intention of introducing it into the gas transmission network. Consequently, there are certain restrictions regarding connections to gas network operators (such as PSG, Gas-System, etc.). One of the unresolved issues is the inconsistency of the heating value of biomethane with the requirements for natural gas in the network.
Many biogas plants fall short by 3-5% of the required heating value of biomethane in a given ORCS (Heating Value Settlement Area).
